ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITES & FUNCTIONS
 
 
-Help ensure that CRW and its employees understand and comply with occupational health and safety laws, regulations and policies.
-Develop, implement, and assess, on an ongoing basis, Capital Region Water’s (CRW's) Risk and Safety Management programs and strategies.
-Ensure CRW is properly insured in accordance with current industry standards and practices.
-Procure insurances for CRW.
-Manage CRW’s insurance portfolio.
-Work closely with brokers, claims adjusters, and third-party administrators.
-Build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
-Responsible for all facets of claims administration from occurrence to closure, this includes Workers’ Compensation.
-Identify, evaluate and mitigate risks at all CRW locations and for all CRW activities.
-Provide advice and guidance to all CRW Departments on controlling risk.
-Investigate accidents or incidents to discover root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
-Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities and/or prevention measures.
-Review, revise and update CRW's Health and Safety policies and programs as needed to meet current health and safety regulations and standards to protect the safety and health of staff and visitors.
-Leverage internal and external resources to develop and coordinate safety training for CRW employees.
-Serve as primary point of contact in the development and maintenance of CRW facility safety plans.
-Support management in developing and maintaining industry specific Security Plans.
-Assist management with identifying and addressing project related risks.
-Work with management and other experts to develop and maintain Risk Assessments and Emergency Response Plans as mandated by America’s Water Infrastructure Act.
-Improve health and safety awareness at all levels within the organization.
-Coordinate, attend, facilitate and participate in CRW Safety Committee Meetings.
-Prepare and maintain Safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for each CRW facility.
-Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) through audits and updates.
-Update data in the Learning Management Systems used for risk and safety trainings.
-Support supervisors in utilizing the relevant Learning Management Systems.  
-Establish budgets for insurance and for the Health and Safety program.
-Effectively handle decision-making and problem solving in a consistent manner within the established policy and applicable law.
-Work with CRW management to enforce policies and establish and maintain a culture of commitment to health and safety.
-Aid CRW colleagues is determining the appropriateness of Certificates of Insurance.
-Evaluate CRW worksites and facilities to ensure adherence to established sage work practices.
-Strong and effective oral and written communication skills.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
-Ability to learn and maintain knowledge of other job-related computer software programs.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT & EQUIPMENT USED:

-Office environment; sitting for periods of time in front of computer monitor.
-Travel locally to CRW's facilities and active worksites 50% of time.
-Occasional lifting of boxes 5 – 45 lbs.
-Equipment used to include: personal computer, printer, copier, fax machine, document scanner, vpn, cellphone, learning management system platforms as well as other general office equipment.
