Job Overview:
This position performs all tasks related to the water production and distribution and wastewater pumping and treatment for a small sewer and water authority.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Available to work Full-Time, Monday thru Friday, Overtime, as required and Emergency On-Call duty rotation. The On-Call duty rotation includes 2 mandatory weekends while On-Call. (Weekend hours are flexible and typically require less than 4 hours to complete each day.)
2. Operate and maintain the facilities and equipment related to the Authority’s wells, treatment plants, storage towers, reservoirs, pumps and water distribution system.
3. Operate and maintain the facilities and equipment related to the collection systems and treatment plants of the Authority’s wastewater systems.
4. Perform and record inspections, tests and data on the systems, facilities and operations
5. Collect, analyze and record water and wastewater samples for regulatory compliance and process control monitoring for proper operation of the systems.
6. Prepare reports required by the Authority, the PA Department of Environmental Protection (PA DEP), the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission or other jurisdictional entities.
7. Operate and maintain the vehicles and equipment used in the Authority’s facilities.
8. Perform preventative maintenance, emergency repairs and troubleshoot operational problems on all equipment and facilities.
9. Responsible for the care of the structures and grounds in and around the Authority facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

a. High school diploma.
b. Minimum of two (2) years of full-time water/wastewater operator experience.
c. College degree or relevant advanced training may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience.
d. Pennsylvania Water Treatment Plant Operators license (Class C) preferred. Candidates who are not currently licensed shall commit to obtaining this license within 2 years of hire.
e. Pennsylvania Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators license (Class C, Class B is a plus) preferred. Candidates who are not currently licensed shall commit to obtaining this license within 2 years of hire.
f. Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
g. Mechanical background with compressors, pumps, and controls. An aptitude for electrical and plumbing work is important.
h. Familiarity with computers in a Window based environment using Word, Outlook and Excel.
i. Knowledge of PA DEP regulations for plant O&M is desirable.
j. Ability to communicate effectively with authority members, engineers, clients and regulators.
k. Excellent customer service, problem solving and organizational skills.
l. Integrity and strong work ethic.
m. Other requirements include the ability to climb ladders and lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
n. Good motivation, being a “self-starter” and at the same time being a good team player is also required.

PAY RATE: COMPETITIVE – variable depending on experience and licenses held.

ABOUT US:

Fredericksburg Sewer and Water Authority provides public water and sewer service in the town of Fredericksburg and surrounding area, located at the intersection of Route 22 and Route 343 in Bethel Township, Lebanon County, PA.
Water System: The Authority presently operates and maintains, three wells, two (2) one-million water storage tanks, booster pumping stations and a distribution system for the sale of approximately 900,000 gallons per day.
Sewer System: The Authority presently operates three wastewater treatment plants sized at 650,000 gpd, 150,000 gpd, and 100,000 gpd; three sewage pumping stations; and a collection system consisting of approximately 414 manholes and 70,000 feet of sewer lines.
The Authority is planning for the addition of a two (2) million gallon per day water filtration plant, an additional one-million gallon water storage tank, and three new sources of water within the next three years.
