Job Overview:
Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager, supervise, direct, support and evaluate all preventative and corrective maintenance, repair, and replacement work at the Aspinwall Treatment Plant and Highland Park Microfiltration Plant (MFP).

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support the maintenance manager and work with front-line staff to identify, document, organize, prioritize, plan, and implement all maintenance, repair and replacement projects for the Aspinwall, and Highland Park Microfiltration Plants as well as remote stations, reservoirs and tanks, related to assets facilities, and outdoor property; assist as needed to do the same for pumping and storage facilities.
• Plan, develop, direct, coordinate, organize, and control the materials, equipment, and personnel under jurisdiction toward the effective, efficient, and economical attainment of program goals, including maximum convenience to the public and safety of employees.
• Supervise, direct, support, and evaluates work of assigned personnel; communicates with managers, consultants, and staff in strategic assessments and improvements; provides training and/or technical assistance as requested or required; and recommends and implements approved disciplinary and/or corrective action as necessary.
• Manage area of responsibility in strict accordance with applicable laws, regulations and established policy including union agreements to ensure fair and standardized treatment of employees.
• Ensure that work is performed in accordance with Authority safety rules and regulations
• Support the development of relevant job safety analysis; and supports and implements all facility security requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of time and materials used on jobs; prepares accurate reports on each job completed.
• Respond on a 24 hour a day basis to emergencies and direct assigned personnel in routine and emergency situations.
• Serve as acting maintenance manager as required.
• Perform other tasks as assigned or required. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Considerable knowledge of the location, operation, and maintenance of the water treatment plant and its component functions, including but not limited to demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Aspinwall Treatment Plant, and the Highland Park Microfiltration plant’s as well as remote stations, reservoirs and tanks, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system.
• Some knowledge of relevant labor agreements and personnel policies and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, associates, outside agencies and the general public.
• Demonstrate the ability to learn quickly and continuously to optimize ability to perform the job.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
The following requirements list the minimum education/training/experience required to qualify for this job. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted:
• High School Diploma or equivalent education.
• One (1) year of experience working on water purification or water supply; equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered. 
• Have or obtain a State Certification for Water treatment within eighteen (18) months.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
• A performance or written exam may be required prior to appointment.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED / RECEIVED:
Will directly supervise Four (4) Equipment Repair Specialists, one (1) Welder, (1) Machinist, one (1) Steamfitter, one (1) Painter, one (1) Truck Driver – Hazmat, three (3) Plumbers, four (4) Electricians, nine (9) Utility Worker I / Will receive supervision from the Maintenance Manager.

CONDITIONS:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a moderate or quiet noise level in the office work environment. Subject to remain on duty beyond normal hours or  during emergency situations or other extensive periods.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a moderate or quiet noise level in the work environment. The employee will frequently travel to different sites to perform duties. May perform work outdoors under extreme weather. The employee may be exposed to confined, high spaces, like erect scaffolding; loud conditions with vibrations, traffic, mechanical, chemical, fire, and explosive risks; and odors, dusts, fumes, mists, poor ventilation, and gases which may require a respirator. Availability to work all three shifts, as well as weekends, and holidays. Subject to remain on duty beyond normal hours and/or recalled during emergency situations or other extensive periods.

MEDICAL EXAMINATION:
Employment may be contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) physical examination performed by the Authority's examining physician.

Salary Range: $34.04/hour
